According to National Diabetes
Information Clearinghouse, 7 million or 20.1
percent of all people age 65 years or older
have diabetes. 

Approximately 50% of diabetes cases are
people 55 or older.

Compared with those without diabetes,
people with diabetes who are over 65 years
of age are twice as likely to be
hospitalized for kidney infections.
